For the first time after so many years, Tamil Nadu is going to witness a multi-cornered contest in the Assembly elections. The competition had been monopolised by the DMK and AIADMK till now with power changing hands between the two at regular intervals.
Over 5.79 crore voters will cast their vote in 65,616 polling stations to select representatives from 234 constituencies of the state legislative assembly. Tamil Nadu will witness a single-phase election.
Chief Minister and AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa and DMK president M Karunanidhi, are among over 3,800 candidates are in the fray.
