The upcoming movie on Captain Marvel is one of the most-anticipated Marvel ventures in recent times. Besides being one of the most popular Marvel characters, she will also be one of the first superheroines to get a movie of her own in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Over the past few months, several prominent actors' names have come up in connection with the iconic superheroine, and now, rumours state that Academy Award-winner Brie Larson is the latest front runner.
Variety has reported that Larson is in early talks for the film. However, it is not yet clear where negotiations stand. Sources have told Variety that Larson is the first choice, and is leaning towards playing the part.
In an earlier interview with Gizmodo, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said: "[You'll have] a filmmaker and cast by the summer. Maybe before. Maybe after. Filmmaker announcement first." Though the director has not been confirmed yet, it seems the casting has actively begun.
According to the website, even though Larson recently won an Oscar, she is still not that well known, and that is why she is one of the top contenders for Captain Marvel's role, as the producers want a new face to don the superheroine's costume.
Before acting in "Room," Larson appeared in "21 Jump Street," and "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World." She has also starred in the critically acclaimed movie "Short Term 12" and will be seen next in "Kong: Skull Island."
Written by Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman, "Captain Marvel" is currently scheduled to hit the big theatres on March 2019.
There have been several characters who have donned the costume of Captain Marvel throughout the years in Marvel comic books. It is not yet revealed which of them the movie adaptation will be based on.
Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone was recently in Mumbai and there are rumours that the actress will utilise her days off by going on a romantic vacation with her rumoured boyfriend Ranveer Singh. The duo has been away for a long time due to their respective projects.
"Deepika returned to the country on Wednesday night after filming a special number for 'Raabta' in Budapest. Ranveer's shoot of 'Befikre' in Paris is also expected to wrap up soon. The two thought it would be a good idea to go for a vacation together," Mid Day quoted a source as saying.
After shooting for "x Xx: The Return of Xander Cage," Deepika went to Budapest to shoot an item number for Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon-starrer "Raabta." On the other hand, Ranveer is busy shooting for Aditya Chopra's "Befikre" alongside Vaani Kapoor.
It is said Ranveer and Deepika are going to be together after a long time, and thus they will be going on a short trip as the duo has to resume work soon. However, the romantic destination is still a secret. Deepika and Ranveer had earlier gone to the Maldives to celebrate the New Year.
Confirmation of their short romantic getaway has not been made yet. Also, Deepika's spokesperson denied the buzz when asked by Mid Day, while Ranveer's spokesperson simply said: "No comment."
Meanwhile, the rumoured lovebirds have made headlines on their own. Deepika was reported to be throwing tantrums at the airport when she had to travel from Budapest to Mumbai. Also, when she returned to Mumbai, the actress was asked about her opinion on the steamy poster of "Befikre," and she said she has not seen it yet.
On the other hand, Ranveer seemed to have fun in Paris while shooting his film. It looks like after going bald for "Bajirao Mastani," he is set to try another cool hairstyle for "Befikre." Ranveer has been spotted with a hat several times as if he is hiding his hairdo. Some of the photos on social media revealed his look in the upcoming film.

In the 3D animated comedy, The Angry Birds Movie, we’ll finally find out why the birds are so angry.
The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis, We‘re the Millers, Horrible Bosses), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since Frozen)), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride, This is the End, Eastbound and Down) have always been outsiders. But when the island is visited by mysterious green pigs, it’s up to these unlikely outcasts to figure out what the pigs are up to. The pigs include Ross (Tony Hale) and Earl (Blake Shelton), led by Leonard (Bill Hader). The flock teams up to investigate the pigs and their intentions.
With a view to introduce the characters to the kids who are already feeling the intensity of heat in the scorching summer season that has just set in, the makers had brought the main characters cloaked in their screen costumes to Chennai!
The characters were found moving about in multiplexes and malls much to the delight of all the kids concerned who had assembled in large numbers to take a look at the Angry Birds besides posing for photos with them!
The film is based on the 2009 video game franchise, Angry Birds with a running time of about 95 minutes, reportedly made at a budget of $80 million. The film has been scheduled for release on May 27th both in English and Tamil.

Lady Gaga won’t appear as Cilia Black in the Dionne Warwick biopic Dionne.
“Lady Gaga is not attached and will not appear in this project. Reports of Gaga starring in this project are false,” a representative for Lady Gaga told EW.
Earlier on Friday, Warwick herself announced Lady Gaga’s involvement in the film at a press conference during the Cannes Film Festival. According to The Guardian, the singer described Black as her “musical nemesis,” though she won’t be treated as the “villainess.” She explained, “She stole my music, and I was not a very happy camper about that. Over the years, we grew up and understood each other. It all got cleared away.”
When asked why Lady Gaga was selected to play Black, Warwick said, “Why not?” She added, “It was just an easy choice and she wanted to do it.”
Also announced were the castings of Danny Glover (Community) as Warwick’s father, Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis (Moonstruck) as Warwick’s mentor Marlene Dietrich, and original Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett as Warwick herself.
Based on Warwick’s 2010 autobiography, My Life, As I See It: An Autobiography, Dionne was written by Randall Jahnson with contributions from David Freeman Wooley, and will focus on the years between 1962 and ‘68.

The omens so far are good. Assassin’s Creed comes from the team behind last year’s blistering new take on Macbeth, with director Justin Kurzel bringing back his stars Michael Fassbender (also a hands-on producer) and Marion Cotillard. Here are five takeaways from the first trailer for the film.

How strange that the cute copine from France’s hit Taxi comedies has developed into one of the most sublime screen beauties of modern Hollywood. Ever since Christopher Nolan cast her as a limbo-bound spirit trapped in Leonardo DiCaprio’s consciousness in Inception, Cotillard has been the go-to actor for twisted femme fatales, a modern day Simone Simon, or Gallic Rita Hayworth. Her Sophia Rikkin here also recalls the Oscar-winner’s startling turn in Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises as Talia Al Ghul. Both are scions of an ancient order, Rikkin part of the Knights Templar, Al Ghul a descendant of the similarly destructive League of Assassins (DC Comics version). What perfect casting.
Michael Fassbender’s Callum Lynch has to die to live
As the trailer opens, our hero has just been tried and executed for doing some very bad things. So what a surprise to wake up and find he’s about to be primed for transfer to the past, where he’ll learn skills from an ancestor. Fans of the video game will recognise the tan and teal filtered medical facility as a base for Abstergo Industries, the modern day successor to the evil Knights Templar. We’re told Lynch is a descendant of the rival Assassin’s guild – in the games Abstergo is unaware of his background, and sends him back in search of powerful artefacts known as the “Pieces of Eden”.
Nobody expected the Spanish inquisition
Ok, that’s not strictly true. It’s long been established that Kurzel’s big screen adaptation will borrow a timeline the game series first visited in 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II. Once he’s picked up those vital skills, word is Lynch will return to the 21st century to use them on his sworn Templar enemies. For once, the fact that renaissance Spain looks like an all-CGI affair makes some sort of sense. This is a video game riff, after all.

Justin Kurzel has transformed video game tropes into nightmarish discombobulation
How do you take the clunky furniture required to make a video game such as Assassin’s Creed work and make it interesting for filmgoers? The answer, Kurzel appears to have decided, is to play on the inherent weirdness of the “Animus” device that transports players back in time on their PlayStations. To be plucked from reality and thrown into the body of an ancestor is to experience a nightmarish sense of discombobulation, the Australian film-maker seems to be saying. Those white coats and pristine clean facilities speak to an immediate sense of body horror as Kurzel chooses to flag up the unnatural quality of the game’s conceit, rather than ignore it.
Assassin’s Creed already looks like a much smoother game-to-movie transfer than Warcraft
Kurzel’s film will debut in December, six months after Duncan Jones’s troubled Warcraft, which trailers so far suggest might find itself weighed down by its own video game legacy. The film’s background as a multiplayer game seems to have persuaded Jones to throw in a multitude of colourful orcs and humans, with the fear being that few of them will really stand out for those who have not played the game. By contrast Assassin’s Creed, as the progeny of a game that’s traditionally been more of a single player affair, can focus entirely on its trump card, the intensely watchable Fassbender.

Bollywood actor Hrihtik Roshan recently released the teaser of "Kaabil" on social media and the video has crossed one million views on Facebook. The much awaited film, also starring Yami Gautam, will be released on Jan. 26, 2017.
The "Bang Bang" actor shared the video with an interesting caption, which read: "Blinded by a million eyes watching me...when in fact I am the observer, I am the watcher .. The minds eye sees all." The Sanjay Gupta directorial will feature Hrithik and Yami as visually impaired characters.

The trailer of the movie "TE3N," starring Amitabh Bachchan, Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, is out. Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, the film is a suspense thriller, and the trailer of the film looks impressive.
The trailer gives a glimpse of the film's story, in which Amitabh's granddaughter, Angela, gets kidnapped and remains missing eight years after the incident. While Big B is still in search of the child, another young girl goes missing in the same fashion.
Nawazuddin plays the character of a policeman, who eventually turns into a priest, apparently after failing to bring back Angela. Vidya too is a police officer, who is in charge of the second kidnapping case. Whether the culprit gets nabbed or the two children remain unfound is the crux of the story.
The trailer of "TE3N" is fast and intriguing. With stars like Amitabh, Vidya and Nawazuddin, viewers can expect some brilliant performances in the movie. One of Amitabh's earlier movies, "Ek Ajnabee," had also revolved around the kidnapping of a little girl. However, the superstar had played the character of the victim's bodyguard in "Ek Ajnabee."
Shot in Kolkata, the film's trailer has a couple of elements that bring out the fervour of the "city of joy." The launch event of the trailer was held in Mumbai, where the actors described the experience of working with each other. The film is slated to be released on June 10.
"I am delighted to work with Vidya and Nawaz. I get to learn so much from artists like them. I love learning the craft from young talent. I admire the way they approach the scenes," Hindustan Times quoted the Big B as saying at the event. "When I looked at him (Amitabh), I felt that he was the character and that really amazed me. Will Smith is getting candid about baby making with his wife Jada Pinkett Smith – tequila and Mexican vacay included!
During VH1’s Dear Mama event to celebrate Hollywood Mothers in New York on Tuesday night, Smith gave a touching speech honoring his wife and while he promised not to be “silly”, the actor certainly made a few audience members blush.
“I’m not gonna be silly. I’m here to honor you,” Smith, 47, said. “Just watching the piece with the kids it just takes me back to when we made them. Can’t help but think about that. It’s just amazing. It’s like you take Jada Pinkett Smith and an obscure town in Mexico and some tequila and you end up with great kids!”
Continuing on a more serious note, the Concussion star spoke highly of the mother of his children.
“Jada is magical,” he continued. “Part of why I love her is things happen in a way they shouldn’t happen, they shouldn’t go that way. She has this magical power.”
While the moment may have been a bit awkward for the couple’s children Jaden, 17, and Willow, 15, as well as Smith’s 23-year-old son from a previous relationship, Trey, the words from her husband hit a soft spot with Jada, as she teared up when she took the stage afterwards.
“I never thought about being married or having a family. I didn’t know anything about that because I came from a single mom so I always though I’d be a single mom and have a career,” Jada, 44, said. “But then I found this beautiful man, Will. I got married to him and I got my bonus son Trey and then I got Jaden and I got Willow and I was able to create, for myself, something I never had – which means family.”
Smith and Jada have been married since 1997 and will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary next year. Smith said in November of last year that their marriage has worked because they’re “just not quitters.”
“If there is a secret I would say it is that we never went into working on our relationship. We’ve only ever worked on ourselves individually,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “And then presented ourselves to one another better than we were previously.”
